The Missing Pan, more than just a pretty face?

Chance upon The Missing Pan along Bukit Timah Road.

Had the popular favorite French Toast Salpicon, couldn't help it, that was the first thing that caught my attention as I entered the premises.

Oh boy, it was love at first sight! Unfortunately the taste was subpar, inner fillings was cold, taste was flat, fruits on top were pretty, but just didn't quite go along when eaten as a whole.

The Peanut Butter & Banana Milkshake was delicious tho! I didn't get it pictured, apologies.

Friend went with the La Passion from the desserts menu, didn't quite hit the mark too, the base cream tasted flat, none of it is cold, the cream, the fruits were all room temperature.

Have you ever met a really pretty girl, it was love at first sight but only to find out that's all there is to it? Well my experience at The Missing Pan was kind of like that, unfortunately.

Sunday Folks

Located just minutes walk away from Holland Village MRT you'd find the Soft Serve sibling of Creamier, Sunday Folks! Talk about convenience!

As I entered the premises, big space, lovely setting, not many seating tho, pardon me for the lack of photos, was really excited for my sweet treat post brunch.

As I approach the counter, oh wow the ice cream dispenser is made of brass like material, really nice!

Alright enough of my blabber, here's the om nom!

Not a fan of earl grey but man, the soft served ice cream was good! waffles were freshly made, lovely ambience, reasonably priced, much deserved hype I must say, now what are you waiting for? Go try!

Wheeler's Yard

Hey guys it's me again!

Today I'd bring you through a much hyped bicycle cafe, I believe most of you have seen photos floating around social media platforms with people posting infront of its signature blue door.

So is Wheeler's Yard all just hype? or it's actually worth a visit, read on!

Upon reaching, there was this valet guiding us where to park the vehicle, yup! there is free parking right beside Wheeler's, limited tho!

For those taking public transport or taxi, for your reference, Wheeler's Yard is just a short walk from from Shaw Plaza, not exactly hard to find.
Google Maps, Walking from Shaw Plaza

Greetings!

When we first entered the compound, my impression was wow, pretty huge space huh! in the outdoor area, they had this MRT style uber big fan, it was a hot Sunday afternoon so we decided against sitting outdoors.

when we entered the air-conditioned area, holy shit it was pretty packed! My friend was pretty quick to join the queue while I try to find seats.

We ordered the same thing, the Wheeler's Yard Big Breakfast, how was the food?

Well, no michelin 5 star here but nothing beats comfort food on a lazy Sunday post whatever you did on a Saturday night, decently portioned, comfort taste, the hash brown was a tad too loose tho, falling all over the place.

The ice coffee my friend and the espresso I had was so-so, average beverage.

Check out the Full Menu here!

The YES(s)
1)The Ambience! Uniquely wheeler's, high ceilings, wide space, not often do you get a warehouse space converted cafe do you?
2)The Food, decent portion and price points that won't break the bank, plenty to choose from the Brunch and Dinner menu.

The No(s)
1)The Queue! Please expect to queue in peak hours like Sunday afternoons, if you like quieter place to spend your brunch hours, avoid peak hours!
2)Location! Unless you drive, Balestier ain't exactly accessible.

Final Verdict :

4 out of 5 YUMS, the Ambience alone makes it worthwhile for at least a visit, none of my cycling past has had any influence on this verdict tho! #justsaying

Cups N Canvas

Haven't had my brunch fix for awhile now, ended up at Cups N Canvas on a lovely Sunday.

Eggs Benedict, nothing to shout about to be honest, there was this weird sour after taste likely from the dressing used, not too bad overall.

All day breakfast, comfort food, nothing more, nothing less.
(bratwurst, scrambled eggs, sauteed mushroom, roasted potato, grilled tomatoes, greens, toast)

Fruit Cake, very generous portion of the fruits smacked in between layers and layers of pastry goodness, prolly not sweet enough by most's standard, however the Vanilla ice cream on top was very sweet which compliments the cake very well.

Service was excellent, ambience was good too, very arty farty feel to it, food overall was just, mediocre at best, sadly. Then again, Cups N Canvas is more of a cafe-studio than a place for brunch.

Halfway through our meal people have gathered and started drawing, which was rather interesting.

p.s apologies for the poorly taken photos with shades of purple, I should so get my lazy ass out to get my phone camera fixed, it's been a whooping 6 months of procrastination already :(

all day Brunch @ Hatched

Rise and shine! It's me again with more brunch reviews!

Today I'd be doing a review for Hatched, located at 26 Evans Road.

Burly Benedict
English Muffin, topped with corned wagyu beef, poached egg and mornay sauce.

The "wagyu" beef tasted like your regular canned corned beef, pretty disappointing honestly. everything else, the sauce the sides were all very ordinary, nothing to scream for.

Usual Suspect
2 eggs done any style, bacon, ham or sausages, your choice of toast and juice/tea/coffee.

Your regular rise and shine type of breakfast, simple breakfast.

The Sleepover
Thick slices of sweet brioche soaked in eggs, drizzled with maple syrup.

Perfect hangover food? haha! Those with sweet tooth would love to have these for brunch, yes ladies, I'm referring to you guys.

Grilled Apricots on Cinnamon Toast

Pretty much the same with The Sleepover with different variations.

Do check out their Pancake Party on the menu, they looked really good! too bad we were too full to have any more :(

Overall,

Food : 3/5
Value : 3/5
Service : 4/5
Ambience : 4/5

They have another outlet at Holland V as well! Do check them out.

all day Brunch @ Hungry Chimps

Craving for brunch on a lazy Sunday afternoon? Check out Hungry Chimps by the people behind Play Nation at Prinsep Street.

Set right above Play Nation at Prinsep Street is this cosy corner they call Hungry Chimps, after being there a couple times, I would highly recommend their brunch menu, not much of a dinner place I reckon but do try their dinner menu too! and don't worry, those with sweet tooths, you'd be fairly entertained with their dessert menu.

King Kong Breakfast

Fresh greens were good, fresh, really sweet tomatoes, I especially like mild dressing they used, mushrooms, melted cheese on beef patty, you'd get perfect cheesy fungi-licious aroma, definitely for mushrooms swiss lovers.

Then you have truffle fries that taste like burnt grease, not for everybody but it was good imo(in my opinion), generous serving of pancakes(3!) with maple syrup, do ask for more if the provided maple syrup isn't enough!

Eggs Benedict

Mashed potatoes were okay, noting to shout about, the eggs benedict was good! contributed mostly by the bread, the sauce was mild, personally I would add a tinge of lemon or something to spice up the sauce a little, the poached eggs was well done, the bread was awesome! buttery with a hint of garlic aroma, well eaten together with the egg it's really something I would want for a brunch, who wouldn't desire some comfort food for brunch, aye?

I will definitely be back for more at Hungry Chimps, one thing to take note tho, they can take quite some time to plate your food so do expect to wait a little, on separate experience, there were little to no people at the the tables, still the food took quite some time, it would be good if Hungry Chimps could plate their food faster, then it'd be almost perfect.

and oh, all food on their menu are nett price with no service charge, so.. what are you waiting for? ;)
